It’s April 2020. We’re in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown. I’ve used the time to redesign and launch this website. Now what? Well, I guess I’d better tell you all about the new Chat27 🙂
No more distractions
No more popups, unnecessary notifications or other things vying for your attention. Just chatting. I took a long hard look at what I want Chat27 to be about, and I distilled the new website into something that embodies the reason why Chat27 exists in the first place: Allowing people to easily access South Africa’s most popular chat rooms. I think I’ve done that, I hope you do too.
We’ve gone dark
If you’re a Chat27 regular, you probably stare at your screen for a long time while chatting. To ease the strain on your eyes, as many elements as possible have been made dark, also allowing for important things to stand out. Here and there I allowed myself to indulge in excessive use of pretty colours though 😛
Simple, full-screen
It takes fewer clicks and page loads for you to get to your favourite chat room. The updated chat software is now displayed in all its full-screen glory! No more trying to keep your chat panel centered on the screen – it happens automatically. Mobile users will also find it MUCH easier to chat. I hope you’ve noticed, but Chat27 loads faster and your connection should be more stable and reliable than ever. I’ve moved to new hosts and I’m very happy with the results so far. Let’s hope it stays that way 🙂
A BIG thank you
As always, a big thank you for the help from the Atrum and Zairc server network admins, and an ESPECIALLY big thank you to the folks from LocalDomain whose help (and patience with me) I could not have done without when it came to setting up and configuring the chat software. Thank you also for all the positive feedback I’ve received from chatters and chat room owners. I’m so glad you’re enjoying the breath of fresh air!
The future looks bright!
With this new iteration of Chat27, I’m confident that this website makes it easier than ever to connect to chat rooms and find new people to chat to, especially during times of isolation – government-mandated or not 🙂
